Mitsubishi Outlander Pictures

The Mitsubishi Outlander is a crossover manufactured by Japanese automaker Mitsubishi Motors. It was originally known as the Mitsubishi Airtrek when it was introduced in Japan in 2001, and was based on the Mitsubishi ASX concept vehicle exhibited at the 2001 North American International Auto Show. The ASX (Active Sports Crossover) represented Mitsubishi Outlander's approach to the industry wide XUV trend for retaining the all-season and off-road abilities offered by a high ground clearance and four-wheel drive, while still offering car-like levels of emissions, economy and size. The original Airtrek name was chosen to "describe the vehicle’s ability to transport its passengers on adventure-packed journeys in a 'free-as-a-bird' manner", and was "coined from Air and Trek to express the idea of footloose, adventure-filled motoring pleasure." The Mitsubishi Outlander nameplate which replaced it evoked a "feeling of journeying to distant, unexplored lands in search of adventure."

The second generation of the vehicle was introduced in 2005 and all markets including Japan adopted the Mitsubishi Outlander name, although production of the older version continued in parallel. It was built on the company's GS platform, and used various engines developed by Mitsubishi, Volkswagen and PSA Peugeot Citroën. PSA's Citroën C-Crosser and Peugeot 4007, which are manufactured by Mitsubishi in Japan, are badge engineered versions of the Mitsubishi Outlander.

Bugatti Veyron Super Sport Wallpapers

The well-thumbed road-tester’s dictionary of superlatives has been consigned to the bin and the world seems a far slower place after a few hours in the world’s fastest production road car.

No mere fast, brash supercar, the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport has been created expressly to be the GT par excellence. A lot of Bugatti Veyron Super Sport owners apparently think the best part of 1,000bhp isn’t enough, so the Super Sport has been created to fill the niche.

It is a development of the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport launched in 2005, with extensive modifications to unleash even more power while retaining the original car’s poise and driveability. Volkswagen acquired the rights to the Bugatti name in 1998 and, under the direction of then-boss Dr Ferdinand Piëch, set about producing an ultra-high performance car with at least 1,000 horsepower and a top speed beyond 400kph (249mph). The result was the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport 16.4, with a W16 quad-turbo engine producing 987bhp (1,001PS) and 922lb ft of torque – good for 0-62mph in 2.5sec and a top speed of 253mph. It was limited to 300 units, including variants such as the Grand Sport cabriolet... and now this.

Obviously, the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport had to have more power. The engine is essentially the same apart from reduced internal resistance, but bigger turbochargers (four of them, remember) and Naca ducts in the roof (to feed more air to the intercoolers) hike power to 1,200PS (1,183bhp).

Bugatti engineer Dr Oliver Schauerte outlined the other changes from the “standard” Bugatti Veyron Super Sport. The front has been revised with extra grilles to assist breathing and improve brake cooling. The brake discs are unchanged, but the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport has racing-grade pads.

Mclaren F1 Pictures

The McLaren F1 is a super car designed and manufactured by McLaren Automotive. Originally a concept conceived by Gordon Murray, he convinced Ron Dennis to back the project and engaged Peter Stevens to design the exterior of the car. On 31 March 1998, it set the record for the fastest road car in the world, 240 mph (386 km/h). As of Jan 2011, the F1 is still the fastest naturally aspirated road car in the world.

The car features numerous proprietary designs and technologies; it was designed and built with no compromises to the original design concept laid out by Gordon Murray. It is lighter and has a more streamlined structure than even most of its modern rivals and competitors despite having one seat more than most similar sports cars, with the driver's seat located in the middle (and slightly forward of the passengers seating position providing excellent driving visibility). It features a powerful engine and is somewhat track oriented, but not to the degree that it compromises everyday usability and comfort. It was conceived as an exercise in creating what its designers hoped would be considered the ultimate road car. Despite not having been designed as a track machine, a modified race car edition of the vehicle won several races, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1995, where it faced purpose-built prototype race cars. Production began in 1992 and ended in 1998. In all, 106 cars were manufactured, with some variations in the design.

In 1994, the British car magazine AutoCar stated in a road test regarding the McLaren F1, "The McLaren F1 is the finest driving machine yet built for the public road." and that "The F1 will be remembered as one of the great events in the history of the car, and it may possibly be the fastest production road car the world will ever see.".

Aston Martin DB9 Volante Pictures

Aston Martin will introduce a revised version of the company's critically acclaimed DB9 at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show, which includes significant enhancements to standard specification.

These changes include a revised version of Aston Martin's 6.0 litre V12 engine to deliver improved power and torque. Peak power of 470 hp (350 kW) – increased by 20 hp - is now reached at 6,000 rpm, resulting in a power to weight ratio of 267 hp per tonne (199 kW per tonne) – an increase of 11 hp per tonne over the existing DB9.

Peak torque of 600 Nm is delivered at 5,000 rpm, providing even more accessible power for the driver, as well a greater performance feel overall. Accordingly, top speed is now 190 mph (306 km/h) and the benchmark 0-60 mph time improves by 0.3 seconds for the Touchtronic transmission – which benefits from a new valve box and integrated transmission controls to achieve quicker gear shifts – to 4.6 seconds and by 0.1 seconds to 4.6 seconds for the manual gearbox. The latest DB9 also incorporates a series of chassis developments for both the Coupe and Aston Martin Volante derivates. Bilstein dampers are introduced in addition to revised upper suspension arms and retuned suspension bushes to deliver improved ride quality; aiding greater refinement in the Aston Martin Volante and an enhanced sporting feel in the Coupe. The DB9 Aston Martin Volante also benefits from revisions to the front shear panel which increases torsional rigidity by 10 percent further improving refinement.

The DB9 Aston Martin Volante manages to combine all facets of style, quality and usability of a traditional Aston Martin without relying on retrospective detail or design. Accordingly, styling changes to the revised DB9 are subtle, reflecting the car's timeless design and understated elegance.

Exterior styling changes include the introduction of a new standard 19 inch 10-spoke alloy wheel, new door mirrors and a revised anodised aluminium five-bar grille. In the cabin changes include a new centre console constructed from die cast zinc with a painted iridium silver finish and the introduction of a new Emotion Control Unit (ECU) – first seen on the DBS in 2007. The ECU – constructed from glass, polished stainless steel and polycarbonate - replaces the key used previously for the DB9.

The innovative DB9 introduced an exciting new era for Aston Martin. The 2+2 sports car set new standards in its class due to its astonishing combination of technology, agility and design. The car marked the beginning of a new era for Aston Martin Volante and became the first car to be hand-made at the company's state-of-the-art facility in Gaydon, Warwickshire.

Sales of the DB9 started in spring 2004, and to date, more than 10,000 examples have been produced and delivered to customers around the world – surpassing the DB7 as the most successful Aston Martin of all time.

Deliveries of the updated DB9 begin during quarter two 2008, with prices from £113,950 for the DB9 Coupe and £122,950 for the DB9 Aston Martin Volante.

Ferrari Aurea Wallpapers

Ferrari Aurea arose from a graduation thesis with the support of Ferrari engineers. The Aurea Project was born from the desire to place the F1 DNA on a normal car. With the teamwork of Ferrari's Product Engineers, the project saw a good deal of modification to become a sports car heir to the 360 Modena.

One of the major requests was to “dress” the engine-frame of the 360 Modena. The light changes made to the frame have been verified by a special calculating program (Straus) and compared with the original one. The development has been cured by three Ferrari’s engineers:

• Amedeo Visconti: coordinating and homologation rules supervisor;
• Luca Caldirola: external co-examiner who with engineer Stefano Carmassi (responsible for Enzo’s fluid dynamic) resolved the aerodynamics.

The formal and stylistic evolution went through hand rendering to study models to computer graphics models (Rhinoceros and 3d Studio Max).

Opel Meriva Pictures

The Opel Meriva is a mini MPV engineered and produced by the German automaker Opel. The car is sold under the Opel brand on all of the European markets with the exception of the United Kingdom, where it is called the Vauxhall Meriva. It is also sold in Brazil, Mexico and Argentina under the Chevrolet marque. It is built in São José dos Campos, Brazil by General Motors do Brasil and in Figueruelas, Spain by Opel. Like its bigger sibling, the Zafira, the Opel Meriva has a flexible interior, named FlexSpace. Although it only has five seats in two rows, the second row can be moved forward and backwards, or pushed into the floor, making a straight platform for increased boot space. The second row can accommodate two or three passengers. In the two-passenger mode, the seats are separated from the doors and from each other much like the front seats. In three-passenger mode the back seat looks like a regular one piece seat. The front seat can be pushed fully backwards while the rear passengers can still get more than a decent amount of leg room.
